Projects Manager – Software Development 

 

Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society, has an immediate opportunity for a Projects Manager who will provide leadership for a unit of up to 12-14 staff and 1-2 contractors in a unit responsible for maintenance and new development of contest delivery systems for CA Substance content to include Registry, Reactions, and Markush.  Other duties include recruiting, training and assessing staff for projects in the unit.  Leadership in managing and encouraging change in the development process is very important.  This position reports to the Manager, Content Delivery Services.

 

Required Experience:

• BS in Computer Science, Chemistry or related science required, advanced degree is desirable


• 7-10 years experience in software development and full software development lifecycle


• Strong technical aptitude an proven technical skills


• Strong project management experience


• Excellent communication skills  (Oral, Written, Presentation)


• Excellent analytical and leadership skills


• Ability to communicate with technical, non-technical and management audiences


• Ability and willingness to champion ideas and process improvements


• Ability to energize and manage team leaders


• Knowledge of CAS products is a plus
